MSDN Academic Alliance :: Obtaining the Software

The software is ONLY available to students specialising in Information Systems and is not available to students taking the INF1002F/S or INF1102F courses.

Information System students who wish to loan out the software must first print and complete the agreement form and make sure that all requirements are met before approaching Commerce I.T. There is no charge for renting software. Commerce I.T. will only issue software and respective keys , upon receiving the fully completed agreement form.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU CANNOT BE ISSUED SERIAL KEYS WITHOUT A DVD. WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT YOUR SOFTWARE WILL OPERATE WITH THE ISSUED SERIAL KEY.

Procedure for Obtaining the Software

The Commerce I.T. Department will loan out software to students and staff from Monday’s to Thursday’s between 08:00 and 16:00 ‚ providing that the next day is not a public holiday. Please visit the Commerce I.T office (Commerce Building ‚ Level 3 ‚ Room 3.04.4) with your completed agreement form to obtain the required software..

Note: No software will be loaned out after university lectures end‚ during any vacation periods or examination periods. The loan request period will resume on the first day of the semester or the first day of the term quarter.

Returning the Software

All software must be returned within 24 hours of the DVD disk being issued. Failure to return the software in time ‚ will result in your Novell login account being disabled.

Notes on Activating Software

Certain software products such as Visio and Window’s require a unique License Key that is supplied by Microsoft. After installation you will be required to either activate the product via Internet access or via telephone (toll free telephone number). If a License Key is issued to you please make sure that you don’t let anyone else try to use the same key for the same product. The License Key will only activate one product‚ if you don’t activate the product it will stop working after 8 start ups and you will need to re–install the product.
